If you are a Shared, VPS or Dedicated customer, you are probably familiar with the Webuzo control panel. If you haven’t already, it’s a free control panel that we provide with our server solutions. It’s an alternative for cPanel, Plesk or other paid control panels. Yes, Webuzo offers almost all of the features of those control panels, and you don’t have to pay anything!
This article will be helpful for customers who already have a cPanel server (with us or elsewhere) and want to move their accounts to one of our Webuzo servers. Please continue reading, and we’ll show you how to do it.
Important Information:
1) The server must be newly set up. For the account that we are attempting to transfer, the Webuzo and cPanel usernames must be the same.
2) The current user data will be overwritten by this utility.
3) Place the cPanel account’s entire backup in the /home/username/ folder.
4) You can use this tool to migrate your domains, databases, and other data. However, it will not import the email accounts. If you wish to migrate the email accounts, you must use email migration tools such as “imapsync” when the migration is complete.
Let’s start the Webuzo migration:
1) Make a backup of your cPanel account and save it in the /home/username/ folder.
2) Log in to the Webuzo control panel and select the “Import From cPanel” icon from the “Server Utilities” tab.
3) There are two ways to import a cPanel backup in this stage. “Remote Import” comes first, followed by “Local Import.” Let’s check and discuss both alternatives, and then you may decide how to continue.
Import from a Remote Location:
Fill out the form with the cPanel server hostname or IP address, username, and password, then click the “Submit” button to begin the process. (This is the quickest approach, but it will take a little longer than the “Local Import.” You should select this option if you do not want to waste time uploading backups to other servers and doing additional tasks.)
Import from Local:
In this case, upload the backup to the server to the -/home/username/ folder first. (You can use whatever method you like, such as FTP, scp, or rsysnc.) Then click I have a backup file (.tar.gz) in the home directory and enter the backup name. The import will begin after you click the “Submit” button.
That’s all! You must now wait for the import procedure to be completed before receiving an email. If you have any problems with the import process or wish to monitor it, the log file is located at: /usr/local/webuzo/includes/cli/cpanel_migration.log.
You have finished the migration. We must now test the functionality of the websites. By modifying the “hosts” file, you can temporarily point the domain to the new server’s IP address. After that, your domain will be worked by the new server.
Perform the tests, and if everything checks out, update the DNS for the domain name to point to the new server IP address to bring it online. I hope you now see the easy way it is to migrate from cPanel to Webuzo.
This tutorial has come to an end. We hope this tutorial assisted you in migrating cPanel accounts to the Webuzo administration panel.
