How to fix the WordPress “Scheduled maintenance” notice?

When performing a routine update, wordPress goes into maintenance mode & shows maintenance  warning, and momentarily limits site’s access.

After the upgrade is finished, wordPress deletes the notification, making your site again accessible.

Unfortunately, this notification stays visible and restricts access to your site, if a WordPress update is interrupted or fails. You must “unblock” the update maintenance mode manually in this scenario.

  1. login to your cpanel account.
  2. In the section of files, there is an option for file manager.
  1. Go to the file manager and click on settings option. tick the option on “ show hidden files”
  1. find the file .maintenance
  1. Right click on that file and delete it.
  2. Open your WordPress site in the web browser. Now, you will see the main page, not the scheduled maintenance message.
