Move an addon domain from one cPanel to another cPanel

This article will explain how to transfer an addon domain from one to another. This migration is for two separate servers; WebhostUK provides free migration services.

Note: Create a backup of your website before making any changes.

Steps are given below to move addon domain to another cPanel account

  1. Create a zip file of your website on your old host and Download it to your local machine
  1. Download backup of database of your website
  1. Create a subdirectory under public_html on your new cPanel with us
  1. Upload the old website content of addon domain to new folder earlier created
  1. Restore the database backup into cPanel.
  1. Now login to the new cPanel account
  1. Add that addon domain by clicking on Addon Domain Icon.
  1. Enter the addon domain name.
  1. For the Document Root, you must enter /public_html/subfolder/ (replace ‘subfolder’ with the name you chose in Step 3).
  1. Click on Add Subdomain
  1. Now update your addon domain name’s nameservers or other DNS records.
